A Hartlepool mosque is to open its doors in a bid to give people an insight into Islam.
The town’s Nasir Mosque, in Brougham Terrace, is hosting a visit by Maulana Ataul Mujeeb Rashed, the Imam of a London Mosque.
He will give a talk entitled Islam – a Message of Peace tomorrow (Tue 02 Jun 2015) at 6.30pm. This will be followed by a question and answer session.
Everyone is invited to attend.
Imam Tahir Selby, from the Hartlepool Mosque, said:
“The purpose of the meeting is to once again try to remove the misunderstandings about the true teachings of Islam and all the answers will be based on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the sayings of the Holy Prophet (may peace be with him and the Mercy and Blessings of Allah).
“Maulana Ataul Mujeeb Rashed is an eminent scholar of Islam and has been the Imam of the London Mosque (the first Mosque built in London) since 1983, although previously he was the Deputy Imam before going to Japan and serving there.”
It was the first open day the mosque has held for several years and organisers hope it will be the first of many to come.
Imam Selby added: “It is also a good chance for us to meet our neighbours in the area.”
Anyone interested in attending can contact Tahir for an invitation card on 01429 261403 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
They are welcome to turn up to the Nasir Mosque, but space is limited, so there is no guarantee of admission.
